As the second largest new energy vehicle market after China, Europe is in the ascendant. Both complete vehicles and upstream and downstream industries are growing rapidly, making it an important destination for Chinese new energy companies to go overseas. Among them, the charging pile market is growing rapidly and has a huge demand gap. On the one hand, the market demand is ahead of the North American market, and on the other hand, the market saturation is lower than in China, so there are more opportunities.

European governments have also introduced many stimulus policies for the construction of charging piles. On the one hand, the government directly allocates funds for the construction of charging piles and provides certain financial subsidies to companies that install charging piles; on the other hand, it also promotes the construction of charging piles through policy requirements, such as stipulating that certain funds in parking lots must be used for the construction of charging piles. .

From 2017 to 2021, the number of public charging piles in Europe increased from 133,000 to 334,000, with a year-on-year growth rate of 39% in 2019, and has maintained a high growth rate since then. Spain has the largest number of public charging piles among European countries, reaching 2021. 82,000; the construction of public charging piles in Italy is still in its infancy, and the growth rate fluctuates greatly; after 2020, the growth rate in the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany accelerated, while other countries experienced a decline in growth rate.

The vehicle-to-pile ratio in Europe is also growing: from 2017 to 2021, the overall vehicle-to-pile ratio in Europe rose from 6.43 to 16.47, and the pressure on charging infrastructure construction continued to increase; in Germany, the vehicle-to-pile ratio surged from 6.14 to 25.78 after 2019. The main reason is that Daimler, BMW, Volkswagen and other car companies are transitioning to electric vehicles. The sales of electric vehicles in Germany have surged, and the construction of public charging piles has lagged behind the growth of electric vehicles in a short period of time.
